If all parties agree to the Court's tentative ruling, that ruling will become the order of the Court. The
prevailing party or counsel shall prepare an order within five days and submit it to the other party for approval
as to form. That party then has five days to either approve as to form or submit their version of the order
for approval as to form. The order(s) shall then be submitted to the Court for signature.
If any party wishes to appear for oral argument, that party must:
- Telephone the other parties or their attorneys by 4:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled hearing date. It
is not necessary to speak directly with counsel or the other parties; it is alright to leave a message.
- Then, immediately advise the law and motion clerk by leaving a message no later than 4:00 p.m. the day
before the scheduled hearing at (415) 444-7046, option 5.
PLEASE NOTE: If proper notification of all parties and the Court is not made by the 4:00 deadline, no oral
argument will be permitted and the tentative ruling will become the order of the Court.
To Obtain Tentative Rulings Online.
Tentative rulings are available by 2:00 p.m. on the court day preceding the hearing date. The tentative rulings
include all family law departments with matters on law and motion calendars for the following day. The date of
each ruling is listed at the top of each file. Be sure to verify the date when viewing the rulings.
To assure privacy for family law litigants and their children, family law tentative rulings will be referenced
on-line by the first name of each party. Children will be identified by initials of first name only. For
example, if John Doe and Jane Smith are involved in a family law case, the case name in the tentative ruling
will be "John" vs. "Jane." Their minor children Sean Doe and Anne Doe will be identified as "S" and "A"
if they are mentioned in the tentative ruling.
PLEASE NOTE: Family law cases that are designated as confidential by California law will not be posted
on-line. For tentative rulings in those matters, please contact the judicial secretary at (415) 444-7260.
